6 crude bombs found in Vadodara
Vadodara: Three persons have been detained following recovery of six crude bombs from Vadodara on Friday, police said.
"The bombs which weighed 1.1 kg each were recovered from a bag near a religious place in Yakutpura area," city police commissioner, Mr Rakesh Asthana, said.
"We raided the place following information from the Intelligence and found a bag," he said.
"As per initial probe, if exploded the crude bombs could have caused damage within 5-10 metres area," Mr Asthana said.
The recovery of the crude bombs assumes significance as the city was on alert in the wake of the court verdict on Ayodhya suit, which was scheduled to be pronounced today but was deferred by the Supreme court.
According to DCP, Mr Ashok Yadav, the bombs contained gun powder, ammonium nitrate, splinters, glass pieces and other material, which have been sent for forensic examination.
One of the detained is from the city while two others are from Surat. They are being interrogated, he said.
They have been detained as they were present near the place from where the bombs were recovered, he said, adding more persons could also be involved in the case.
