75 cops survive Naxal ambush
In yet another brazen ambush, Maoist guerrillas on Wednesday attacked a police search party near Gumiyapal, in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district.
The latest official reports reaching here from the area said the police personnel had sustained no casualties. The police, however, claimed at least half-a-dozen Naxals may have been killed.
“All 75 members of the search party are safe. They have returned to Kirondal police station,” ADGP (anti-Naxal ops) Ramnivas said. He said five-six rebels may have been killed. “We could not find the body of any rebel. But some personnel have reported seeing bodies being taken away by the Maoists,” he added.
The police brass here heaved a sigh of relief following reports that the search party was safe.
