75-year-old foils burglary bid, in critical condition
A septuagenarian foiled a burglary attempt by opening fire on one of the three thieves early on Thursday morning.
According to Chatrinaka police, at around 1.30 pm, 75-year-old Sriramulu Patel opened fire on one of the thieves at his residence in Patel Nagar with his 0.25 mm licenced pistol and nabbed the injured intruder identified as Tirupathaiah.
According to Chatrinaka Sub Inspector A. Seethaiah, Mr Patel was woken up by some sound in the middle of the night. He got up and looked around the house, but found no one.
“However, on hearing some whispers, Patel opened the main door. There were three persons outside who pounced on him. But Patel managed to escape, and in turn opened fire on one of the intruders,” the police said.
A resident of Mahbubnagar, Tirupathaiah sustained bullet injuries on his chest and ribs and was shifted to the Osmania Hospital, and his condition is serious.
