7th grade girl pregnant, 2 boys held

A minor tribal girl of the VIIth standard was found six months' pregnant in Odisha's Sundargarh district prompting the police to pick up two teen-agers today.

The girl, who was staying at her uncle's house at Badgaon, 90 km from here, narrated the ordeal to her visting mother from Sambalpur and the woman filed an FIR at Badgaon police station yesterday after a medical examination confirmed her daughter became pregnant, police sources said.

The 15-year old had earlier kept the matter to herself out of panic. Two teenaged boys - Manjit Ekka (16) a high school student and Biraja Ekka (18) a higher-secondary student - have been arrested after being named in the FIR. The girl narrated her ordeal of being forced to have physical relationship with the duo several times in past and threatened of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.

The mother turned suspicious after observing abnormal behaviour of her daughter during the current visit and took her to a doctor and the events unfolded.
