8 killed as bus plunges into river; more feared dead

At least eight passengers were killed when their bus fell from a bridge into the Purna river near Khirola village in Buldhana district on Wednesday, police said.

There could be more casualties in the accident that took place around 11 am police said, adding that the ill-fated bus belonged to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).

Buldhana district, located in north Maharashtra, is around 500 kms from Mumbai. Further details were awaited.
