80% turnout in 4th phase J&K panchayat poll

Electorate on Monday turned out in droves to cast votes for the fourth phase of Panchayat polls in Jammu Kashmir which recorded over 80 per cent polling.
The exercise to elect 346 sarpanchs and 2471 panchs in 12 blocks of the state passed off peacefully.

Re-polling was also held in three booths.
“An estimated 80.55 per cent polling was registered in the fourth phase. The voting was peaceful,” an official spokesman said.
The polling was 88.39 per cent in Ramhal, 85.5 per cent in Bhani, 85.04 per cent in Mahore, 85 per cent in Nowshera, 84 per cent in Beerwah, 81 per cent in Wakura and 80.41 per cent in Lohai Malhar, the spokesman said.
Anant Ram and Jobanu, both 110 years old, cast votes in Ghordi and Duggam blocks respectively. —PTI
