99-year-old woman takes on son, gets back property
A 99-year-old widow, who was allegedly ill-treated by her son after he got her land and home transferred to his name in November last year, has got a reprieve, thanks to the intervention of revenue authorities.
The Revenue Divisional Officer of nearby Kolencherry R Maniamma transferred the property back to Kunhipillai after she complained about her plight.
The widow had reportedly complained that her son had refused to look after her ever since he got the 20 cents of land and house transferred in his name in November 2011. Her life became miserable after that and no one was allowed to visit the house, she said.
While on her way to hospital to purchase some medicines recently, she called up her grand daughter in Coimbatore and narrated her plight. The woman has two sons and three daughters. Her daughters are all settled in Coimbatore.
The woman's wish to live in her own home was agreed to by her daughters, who have now promised her financial support.
