AAI averts flight mishap in Mumbai
New Delhi, Oct. 19: A mishap was averted at the Mumbai airport on Monday evening when an aircraft of an Africa-based airline inadvertently crossed the runway on account of suspected pilot error, even as another aircraft of a prominent Indian scheduled carrier was due to land.
Anxious to avoid a disaster, the alert Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Mumbai airport asked the plane not to land and to go around. When contacted, top Airports Authority of India sources confirmed the incident late on Tuesday evening and said an inquiry has been ordered into it. Sources said the incident occurred at Mumbai airport at about 7 pm on October 18.
