Aarushi's parents want to examine CBI report

The parents of murdered teenager Aarushi Talwar are seeking the CBI's closure report from the court to examine its contents after the probe agency named the girl's father Rajesh Talwar as the lone suspect in the crime.

Speaking to reporters, Talwar's counsel, Ms Rebecca John, said on Sunday: "We are asking the court to allow us to examine the entire closure report and will make the necessary intervention at the appropriate time."

Ms John also said they will be filing a one-page application to get the closure report so that it can be examined.

When reporters asked whether they will be filing a defamation case against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), she said: "It is too early, let us first examine the report and after that we will decide what to do."

Meanwhile, Aarushi's mother Ms Nupur Talwar said: "The report is a bundle of false allegations, the CBI has condemned us for life and let the killers of my daughter go free."

Mr Rajesh Talwar termed the CBI's allegations sad and claimed that he has cooperated with the agency in its probe.

"What else should I do to prove my innocence," he asked.

Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in her parents' Jalvayu Vihar apartment in Noida, Delhi's suburban town in Uttar Pradesh, May 16, 2008. The family's domestic help, Hemraj, was also found killed on the flat's terrace a day later.

The CBI Wednesday moved a Ghaziabad court seeking its permission to close the Aarushi murder as an unsolved case on grounds of lack of conclusive evidence.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
