Aavin GM held on graft charges
A top official of the Tiruchirappalli District Co-operative milk producers union (Aavin) was arrested on Friday on bribery charges, DVAC sources said.
Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sources said B. Vezhinathan, GM Aavin, Tiruchi District, was taken into custody after he allegedly demanded rs 20,000 from a retired Aavin employee for expediting the encashment of earned leave surrendered by him during his service.
The settlement of amount would have have been approximately Rs one lakh, DVAC sources said. The DVAC laid a trap and caught the official red-handed, at his residence, sources said, adding, he was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
The DVAC also seized some documents from his residence, sources added.
