Abducted 15-month-old baby restored to parents by alert police
A fifteen-month-old baby boy, who wasallegedly abducted from a residential locality in Bhayander
here was reunited a day after with his parents, on the eve of Bakra-Eid, police said on Saturday.
PSI A.B. Phullarwar of Navghar police station within Bhayander said the child went missing on the night of October 25 from around 8 pm from his residence.
Worried parents after frantically searching for the child, lodged a complaint with the police, which quickly swung into action and informed all centres.
Soon after, police at the Vasai Railway station spotted a man moving in a suspicious manner on the platform with a child. Police apprehended accused Vikram Rajput (25) and on interrogation came to know that the toddler was kidnapped from Bhayander.
Rajput, who was the neighbour of complainant Kersingh Thakula, was trying to flee with the child.
Vasai police later registered a case and transferred it to Navghar police station and handed over the child and the accused to hem.
The accused who is a vagabond was booked under sections 363 of the IPC, police added.
The motive behind the kidnap of the child is still not known but police do not rule out the possibility of abduction for ransom.
