Abducted collector released by Maoists after nine days
Malkangiri district collector R.V. Krishna has been released by Maoists, nine days after he was abducted during a trip to a village in the region.
Negotiations had hit a roadblock on Wednesday after the rebels set new conditions, including setting free some more Maoist leaders from jail.
The rebels had put forward the new conditions within hours of releasing Pabitra Mohan Majhi, the junior engineer who was abducted along with Krishna on February 16.
Negotiators, however, rejected some of the demands.
Celebrations are now on outside the collector's house following the release.
