Abducted engineer found dead, another missing

The bullet-riddled body of an abducted engineer of Assam agriculture department was on Thursday recovered in Bongaigaon while another was still missing.

Police said the body of abducted engineer Gadapani Pathak was found at Kakragaon under Boithamari police station in Abhayapuri town of the district on Thursday morning.

Pathak and his colleague Faizur Rahman were kidnapped on Wednesday night by four armed and unidentified miscreants at Kakragaon on National Highway 31 while they were returning to Guwahati from Dhubri.

Both Pathak and Rahman were engineers in Gauripur agriculture engineering department. The miscreants had overpowered the driver of the vehicle and whisked away the duo in another vehicle.

Pathak's bullet-riddled body was recovered from a field while search operations were on to rescue Rahman.
