Abduction of Collector: Centre in touch with Chhattisgarh govt
The Centre on Monday said it was in constant touch with the Chhattisgarh government on the abduction of the Sukma Collector and providing all necessary help to resolve the crisis.
"We are in regular touch with the state government. Whatever support is needed by them is being given, will be given," Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh told reporters here.
Naxals abducted 32-year-old IAS officer Alex Paul Menon on Saturday when he was holding a meeting as part of the government's Special Gram Suraj Abhiyan.
The Maoists on Sunday set a deadline of April 25 to fulfil their demands that include immediate halt of all police action against them and release of eight fellow comrades.
