Accused decline test ID parade
At least three accused in the Dhaula Kuan gangrape on Tuesday refused to appear for a Test Identification Parade (TIP).
Investigating officers have confirmed that Kamru, Shahid and Iqbal have refused to undergo the test parade at the jail. Earlier, Shamshad and Usman had gone through
the TIP and were identified by the victim, a 30-year-old BPO employee. However, police officers refused to reveal the reason why the accused refused to undergo the TIP.
The BPO employee was walking towards her residence in Moti village near Dhaula Kuan in South Delhi along with one of her colleagues after being dropped by their office cab on November 24 when the incident took place. The gang allegedly forced her into their vehicle and sped it off with her.
The first arrests in the case were made by police on December 2 when they apprehended Usman and Shamshad from Dhaujj. Shahid, another suspect, had surrendered in Faridabad in connection with another case and was later arrested.
The fourth accused Iqbal was held on December 4 from Fatehpur Beri in Sohna, Haryana by a special team of the Delhi police. Kamru, who earlier managed to give slip to the police despite a team managing to spot him, was apprehended on Monday night. Reacting to the trio’s decision not to attend TIP, deputy commissioner of police (south) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said it could go in prosecution’s way.
“Their decision will go in our favour. The court will take into notice that the accused had refused to undergo TIP,” said the DCP.
