Acid attack leaves woman critically injured
A woman was critically injured when four persons allegedly threw acid at her when she resisted their attempts to drag her into their Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), a senior police official said on Sunday.
"The men first tried to drag the 27-year-old woman into the SUV in Barra area last evening. When they met resistance, they threw acid at her hands and legs," DIG Rajesh Rai said.
They then threw the woman on the road following which she was admitted to a hospital where her condition was stated to be critical, he said.
A medical examination will be done to ascertain if the victim was sexually assaulted, the DIG said. One person has been arrested in this connection and is being interrogated, he said.
