Actor Vijay to prop up Jaya front
Tamil Nadu will soon be awash with posters of Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay showing the two leaves symbol of the AIADMK. After prolonged silence over his support to the AIADMK, the popular actor finally got his message across to AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa, who will heli-hop from one constituency to another while campaigning for her party for the April 13 election.
His producer father, S.A. Chandrasekar, called on Ms Jayalalithaa and conveyed the decision of the Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam — a people’s movement launched by Vijay recently — to support the principal opposition party for the elections.
The support, it is said, would help usher in a political change that would witness the AIADMK capturing power and forming the next government under Ms Jayalalithaa.
Already, the combine, led by Ms Jayalalithaa, has two well-known actors contesting polls — DMDK founder Vijayakanth and AISMK founder R. Sarathkumar. She being a yesteryear heroine herself, her camp has become star-studded with Vijay’s entry.
Mr Chandrasekar, who called on Ms Jayalalithaa, said the Iyakkam favoured a political change in the state. Violence, price hike and rampant corruption were the three reasons which made the Iyakkam seek a change of governance in Tamil Nadu.
