Actress booked for assaulting director

The Upparpet police have filed an assault case against Kannada film actress Nayana Krishna and seven others for allegedly slapping film director Rishi with her footwear.

According to police, a press conference was being held with the crew of the movie Kotlalloppo Kai on Saturday at Green House Hotel in Gandhinagar, when Nayana suddenly started to cry. She then played director Rishi's telephone conversation,where she alleged that he had intimidated her when she insisted that he return her money.

Suddenly, seven women, who belonged to various organisations, attacked Rishi and beat him with their footwear. Nayana too joined in and assaulted Rishi with her footwear. It is learnt that the director ran and tried to get into an auto, but the women chased him and beat him till the police arrived.

Nayana and Rishi have been having a running fued. It is said that Nayana Krishna holds the film rights under the banner of ‘Ice Pictures’ and had invested Rs 10 lakh. Police have filed a case and are investigating.
