Adarsh scam papers are safe, says CBI
With the entire urban development department being gutted down in the fire, many conspiracy theories are doing the rounds, regarding how the fire was started to get rid of the Adarsh documents. However, both the CBI and the state government-appointed inquiry commission officials probing the Adarsh case have said that they have copies of all relevant documents pertaining to the case. The CBI has been appointed by the Central defence ministry to probe the case, while the state government has named a judicial panel to make inquiries into it.
“There is no need to worry as we had obtained copies of all the relevant documents pertaining to the Adarsh scam much earlier. The other evidence like hard disks are also with us,” said a senior CBI official.
NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad, who also has a flat in the controversial 31-storey Adarsh Society, said, “More than the Adarsh case, it is the common man who is going to suffer more because of the fire at Mantralaya. Several important documents pertaining to many departments have been destroyed in the fire, which is a huge blow.”
The urban development department is situated on the fifth floor of the Mantralaya. It was the worst affected as the entire floor was burnt in the fire on Thursday.
Hundreds of files related to several important issues including Adarsh scam are said to have been destroyed in the blaze.

Panel: Categorise AI pilots in 2 divisons

New Delhi, June 21
Even as the Air India pilot strike by union pilots flying international routes drags on, the Justice Dharmadhikari Committee report on human resource issues in the post-merger unified carrier Air India — made public by the Government on Thursday — has recommended that pilots of the unified carrier should be categorised in two divisions based on flying narrow and wide-body aircraft. However, the committee has recommended that opportunities should be offered for pilots to switch over from one division to another. The committee has also come down heavily on the payment of productivity-linked incentive (PLI) in its current form, saying, “We are therefore of the opinion that payment of PLI which is devoid of any rationale cannot be allowed to continue.” However, the committee said the PLI could be replaced by other incentives.
