Adhir Chowdhury for Cabinet post?

After Pranab Mukhe-rjee’s exit as Union finance minister, the West Bengal Congress unit expects one of the state MPs to be inducted in the Union Cabinet. Adhir Chowdhury is the frontrunner.
Murshidabad Congress MP Mannan Hussain on Tuesday advocated that MP Adhir Chowdhury should get a Central ministerial berth because Pranab Mukherjee has resigned as Union finance minister. “A Congress MP from Bengal should get a ministerial berth in place of Mr Mukherjee. I think Adhir should be made a Central minister,” he added.
Coming from Mr Hussain, this suggestion seemed surprising because the two are arch-rivals in Murshidabad. Mr Hussain, however, clarified that he had nothing against Mr Chowdhury. “In any case, I am not in the race for Central ministerial berth,” he added.
He explained that Mr Chowdhury deserved this reward because under his leadership Congress won three Lok Sabha seats in the district, including Jangipur which was won by Mr Mukherjee.
