Advani kept in dark on Jharkhand deal
Senior BJP leader and parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani is believed to be fuming as he was kept in the dark over the party’s successful attempt to form the government in Jharkhand.
BJP president Nitin Gadkari, who is in Russia at this time, spoke to his loyalists after the JMM decided to support a BJP-led government in the state.
Mr Advani, initially against going in for an alliance with the JMM once again, also indicated that if the alliance was repeated, senior BJP leader and member of Parliament from Hazaribagh Yashwant Sinha should be made chief minister.
However, Mr Gadkari carried out his own gameplan and pushed the candidature of his loyalist, former CM Arjun Munda.
Sources disclosed that Mr Munda, also an MP from Jamshedpur, was given the responsibility by the BJP chief to initiate talks with JMM MLAs.
Party sources said Mr Gadkari had given the responsibility of government formation to the state unit under Mr Munda’s leadership.
It was on the BJP chief’s insistence that state unit chief Raghuvar Das had to quit as BJP Legislature Party leader for Mr Munda.
