Advani meets RSS chief at nagpur HQ
Ahead of the Rashtriya Swayam-sevak Sangh’s Amravati meet next week, senior BJP leader L.K. Advani made a significant visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on Friday. Mr Advani, who was sulking over the elevation of Mr Narendra Modi last month, met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and senior Sangh functionary Bhaiyya Joshi.
This is his first visit to RSS headquarters since his June 10 resignation episode. Both leaders discussed the upcoming Assembly elections and sources said Mr Advani once again stressed that the BJP should go to the polls under a “collective leadership” rather than with a “single face”. Incidentally, when Mr Advani expressed his annoyance over Mr Modi’s sudden elevation, Mr Joshi was the first RSS leader who went to meet him.
Mr Advani was told by the RSS that there would be no rethink on the Modi issue.
After the RSS also convinced Mr Advani that the BJP should be seen standing “united” ahead of the crucial Assembly polls and general polls, the BJP veteran sat next to Mr Modi for the first time in the BJP parliamentary board meeting on Thursday.
