Advani’s exit shocks Karnataka BJP
Bengaluru: The decision of party patriarch L.K. Advani to resign from all posts in the BJP, has shocked Karnataka BJP leaders with virtually every state BJP leaders joining the chorus to request the party veteran to reconsider his decision.
Two former chief ministers expressed shock over the development. Former chief minister, D.V. Sadananda Gowda urged the party central leaders not to accept Advani's resignation, and asked that RSS and BJP leaders hold talks with Advani and immediately sort out the matter.
Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar requested the BJP patriarch who gave the party a national stature to reconsider his decision. “Advaniji is the seniormost leader in our party, he should not resign. Our party senior leaders have asked him to reconsider his decision. We hope he will", Shettar said.
Taking the face-saver that the Advani no-show at the Goa party conclave was not deliberate a step further, former Health and Family Welfare minister Aravinda Limbavali said : "Due to ill-health, Advani has skipped party national executive committee meeting held at Goa. His ill-health does not permit him to continue in party key posts, because of ill-health he quits party posts.”
Former deputy CM K.S. Eshwarappa came closest to the real story when he remarked that, “ongoing developments in the party hurt Advaniji.”
