Advani says Ayodhya bound to go to SC
Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani has said that BJP leaders will exercise restraint on the Ayodhya verdict to be delivered by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on September 24. He said he would visit Somnath temple on September 25.
“No matter in whose favour the verdict goes, it (the case) will go to the Supreme Court,” Mr Advani was quoted by PTI as saying in Ahmedabad on Saturday. “I have told my party MPs in the parliamentary party meeting that I would request you to not to speculate. We will take a decision on what would be the reaction once the court verdict is out,” he said.
Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani also met former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah, who is in Sabarmati jail for his alleged role in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. The meeting is being seen as a signal from Mr Advani that the BJP is very much with the minister. After Mr Amit Shah’s arrest, the party had said the former Gujarat MoS for home had been falsely implicated in the Sohrabuddin case. Party sources said it was a courtesy call on Amit Shah, who was in charge of Gandhinagar parliamentary seat which sends Mr Advani to the Lok Sabha.
Mr Advani also met Mr Shah’s family members at his residence in Ahmedabad.
