Advani: Session could have been better planned
Senior BJP leader and NDA working chairman L.K. Advani on Sunday said the just-concluded Budget Session of Parliament could have all the sittings if government had fine-tuned the schedule of Parliament keeping in mind the coming Assembly polls in five states.
Writing on the issue in his blog, Mr Advani said “The dates of the Budget Session and the poll schedule for the states could have been properly coordinated.”
Mr Advani further said “This may have been the shortest Budget Session in many years” on the ground that the Election Commission had announced the programme of polls for four states and a Union Territory. The senior BJP leader said if government and the Election Commission had an informal interaction early in January, the “situation could have been avoided”. He also said that the “indepth analysis” of the Budget demands of various ministries, which could not take place, “is a big loss.”
Mr Advani’s comments came after Parliament adjo-urned sine die on Friday in view of Assembly elections in five states though it was earlier scheduled to have a second phase in April.
