Advani yatra hits Orissa roadblock
Veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani’s “dream” to become the next Prime Minister of India seems to have dashed against despair in Orissa.
His silence over the ruling BJD and publicly announcing that the BJP was “not so strong” in the state, has incurred wrath of the party leaders here.
The BJD had unceremoniously dumped the BJP on the eve of last general elections.
Ever since, the BJD has been the “Enemy Number 1” of the party. In the last three years, the party has successfully raised numerous mining scams and irregularities in implementation of Central sponsor schemes, making dent into the BJD’s popularity base.
The intensity of anger against the Mr Advani’s plan to embrace the BJD into the NDA fold was so high that almost all top leaders of the state BJP, burying their differences, held two rounds of discussions at the party headquarters here.
