AGP asks PM to give out names
The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Thursday appealed to the Prime Minister to expose account-holders with black money. Former chief minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta demanded that the names of those individuals shared by Germany must be made public.
“We do not see any reason that such account-holders should be protected,” he said pointing out that such black money was encouraging insurgent activities in the Northeast also.
Extending his support to all those mounting pressure on New Delhi to bring back the black money stashed in banks abroad, Mr Mahanta demanded that New Delhi should also keep an eye on those political leaders investing black money abroad by procuring assets in the name of their relatives. Without referring to any names, the former chief minister said that such allegations could be verified by the Central government only. He regretted that the Assam government was also creating hurdles in the ED investigation into the government funds allegedly siphoned off from NC Hills in Assam to Nepal.
