AI issues appeal to employees
Talks were underway on Tuesday evening between the management and the employees. All union leaders are expected to be in New Delhi on Tuesday for talks with the management.
Air India issued an appeal to employees on Tuesday to “strengthen the hands of the airline” in the wake of the tragic Mangalore crash. Then airline also apologised to passengers for the cancellation of flights. “A section of ground employees of Air India have walked out of their assigned duty stations today morning/afternoon,” it said.
The ACEU comprises about 10,000 employees of Air India (domestic), including about 1,300 cabin crew. The ACEU has been agitating against “delay in payment of salaries, shortfall of cabin crew, and ceding of ground-handling duties at Hyderabad and Bengaluru airports to the Air India-SATS joint venture”.
Most of the members of the ACEU are understood to be deployed in ground-handling and administrative duties.
