Air India given Rs700 cr more to pay for fuel
While Air India’s striking pilots remain on a hungerstrike, the government Wednesday granted a fresh equity infusion of Rs700 crores to the national carrier.
Sources said this would ensure the airline has no trouble paying its fuel bills. This year, Rs674
crores was granted in April, Rs1,200 crores in May and a further Rs700 crores granted Wednesday, making it an equity infusion of over Rs2,500 crores in these past two months.
In Delhi, meanwhile, a pilot on fast was hospitalised Wednesday following deterioration in his health, the striking pilots said.
The pilots accused the authorities of being insensitive, but the government is firm it will not budge till the pilots rejoin duty.
