AIr india HQ to be shifted from mumbai to delhi
The government has decided to shift the headquarters of national carrier Air India from Mumbai to Delhi. Top civil aviation ministry sources cited “administrative convenience” as the main reason and added that it would also help cut costs.
Sources said the profile of Delhi as a major aviation hub has also increased considerably in the past few years, growing bigger than even Mumbai.
Sources indicated the change would carried out within the next few months. The government is also planning to lease out several important Air India properties, including some of the floors of the Air India headquarters at Nariman Point in Mumbai, so that the airline can generate more revenue.
