Ajmer blast: ATS takes help of 11 witnesses
The ATS has taken help of 11 witnesses to make its case fool-proof in Ajmer blast case. According to the sources, the ATS has built up its case on the basis of testimony given by a dozen people in different states.
The ATS is going to file a chargesheet soon, while a local court in Ajmer had posted the matter for hearing for 19 October. The ATS could not make arrest of two key persons — Swami Asimananad and Ramji Kalsangra in the Ajmer blast. But it is planning to file chargesheet against other accused — Devendra Gupta, Lokesh Sharma and Chandarshekhar.
The two of the suspects Devendra and Lokesh were taken to Hyderabad in connection with Mecca mosque case.

Goa serial killer gets 7 years in jail
Panaji, Oct. 8: A local court on Friday sentenced alleged serial killer Mahanand Naik to seven years of imprisonment for raping a girl in 2009.
Additional district and sessions court pronounced the sentence in presence of the accused, who has also been charged for murdering 16 girls and slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on him.
Mahanand (40), was arrested in 2009 after the victim, his wife’s friend, complained to the Ponda police that he was threatening her. The girl had claimed that he was raping her for over three years.
The victim, belonging to a poor family, had said she was being “blackmailed” by Mahanand by showing her semi nude pictures.

Jilted lover kills girl’s neighbour

Oct. 8: A 55-year-old man who was attacked by a “love-struck” MBA student late on Thursday evening died at in a private hospital here on Friday morning.
Two others, the youth’s girlfriend and her mother — who were also attacked by the accused — are battling for their lives.
According to the police, at around 9.30 pm on Thursday night, accused Ashis Swain trespassed into the house of Gita Das (name changed) at Pandora village on the outskirt of the city and picked up a quarrel with her over “rejection” of his love.

Ulfa ‘adviser’ Bhimkanta gets bail

Oct. 8: In what has been seen as a significant step towards holding peace-talks with outlawed Ulfa, the political adviser of Ulfa, Bhimkanta Buragohain, was allowed to get enlarge on bail by a district and session court of Sonitpur district on Friday.
The court of Justice Dinesh Chandra Choudhury on Friday granted bail to the senior Ulfa leader who is popularly known as “Mama” in Ulfa.
Though, there was confusion over the release of Ulfa leaders as the government pleader on Thursday raised verbal opposition to grant of bail to Buragohain.
The political ideologue of the outfit, Buragohain, was apprehended by Royal Bhutan Army during the operation “All Clear” in Bhutan in December 2003 and handed over to Indian Army on December 25 the same year.
