Akbaruddin Owaisi accuses City Police of triggering violence
MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has accused the Hyderabad City Police of triggering violence in the Old City after Friday prayers.
Talking to reporters outside the DCP South Zone office at Purani Haveli, Akbaruddin Owaisi alleged that a few policemen in plain clothes pelted stones that triggered violence on Friday. He alleged that at least half of the stones were pelted by the policemen themselves. He said the violence was incited to harass the Muslim youth and damage their economy.
Holding Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy responsible for the violence, Akbaruddin Owaisi alleged that the violence and harassment of youth were being done to blackmail the MIM. However, he said that the party would not remain silent and would launch widespread protest.
Stating that facing such conditions was not new for the MIM, he appealed to the people to maintain peace. He accused the government of testing MIM's patience and said the party's agitation has not yet started. Alleging that over 100 Muslim youth have been arrested by the police, he said the MIM would launch severe agitation if they were not released by Friday night.
