Akhilesh: quota in promotion a great injustice
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked the people to teach a lesson to both the ruling Congress and the Opposition BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections, while declaring his support to the campaign launched by anti-reservation employees. His remarks triggered a polarisation on caste lines in Rajasthan. The SC/ST Arakshan Manch was quick to burn his effigy and waved black flags.
Addressing an impressive gathering of employees opposing reservation in promotion in government jobs, Mr Yadav said that “reservation in promotion was a great injustice. When the issue came before us, we immediately scrapped it.”
Though the organisers — the Samta Andolan Samiti and the Mission 72, both repeatedly claimed that the campaign has nothing to do with politics, Mr Akhilesh Yadav said people should show their strength and power in the upcoming Assembly elections.
