Akhilesh Yadav as youngest chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, included Raja Bhaiya in the Cabinet.

According to reports there are eight pending criminal cases against Raja Bhaiya.

The charges include attempt to murder, voluntarily causing grievous hurt, kidnapping or abducting in order to murder dacoity and illegal payments in connection with an election.

However, during his first press conference as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh defended Raja Bhaiya by saying that the cases against him were politically motivated.
