Akhilesh Yadav quits Lok Sabha seat

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Friday announced in the House that Kanauj MP Akhilesh Yadav, who is now Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, had submitted his resignation on May 2 and it was accepted by her the same day.

"Akhilesh Yadav had submitted his resignation from the Lok Sabha with immediate effect on May 2. I have accepted his resignation with effect from May 2," Kumar informed the House.

Yadav, who was MP from Kanauj, is now a Member of Legislative Council in Uttar Pradesh.
