Alagiri: I’m not a CM candidate
Rejecting suggestions that he was a Chief Ministerial candidate for the coming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Union Minister M.K. Alagiri on Thursday said his father M. Karunanidhi would be the Chief Minister not only for the sixth time but also for a seventh time.
The DMK-led combine would win in 200 seats, he claimed and rejected the view in political circles that there was a stiff competition from the AIADMK-led alliance. To a question, he said he had not decided about returning to state politics. Asked if the 2G spectrum scandal would affect DMK's poll prospects, he said “we are relying on our achievements. The opposition parties are seeking votes by abusing us. DMDK leader Vijayakanth, especially is blabbe
ring..and beating his own candidate.” On why Vijayakanth did not participate in the election meeting of the AIADMK-front at Coimbatore, he said “You should ask him that question...I don't know whether he was invited to participate in the meeting.” —PTI
