All 5 accused arrested, hunt on for cellphone
While all five accused in the gangrape of a Mumbai photojournalist were in police custody by Sunday, the man believed to be the main culprit, Kasim Shaikh alias Kasim Bangali, 21, is proving to be a tough nut for investigators to crack.
Bangali, who was said to be the most barbaric among the five accused, is not cooperating with the police, a Mumbai crime branch official told the holiday court on Sunday.
Salim Ansari was arrested from Delhi by a crime branch team at around 11 am on Sunday, the fifth arrest in the case. He is being brought to Mumbai and is expected to be produced before a court on Monday for remand. Ansari, 27, was arrested from northwest Delhi’s Bharat Nagar while he was on his way to a relative’s house there. A senior Delhi police official said: “A team of Mumbai crime branch today reached Bharat Nagar police station and enquired about a locality about which they had inputs that Ansari will be visiting.He was then nabbed when he was on his way to a relative’s house.”
Delhi police sources claimed Ansari was planning to flee to Bangladesh via Kishanganj in Bihar. Ansari was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for medical
