All India bank strike on Aug 22 and 23
Over 10 lakh bank employees and officers have decided to strike on August 22 and 23 against the government policy to privatise the public sector banks.
The United Forum of Bank Unions and its 10 lakh followers have decided to strike work the day a bill in this regard is taken up for discussion in Parliament.
Once the bill is passed, it will give room for “foreignisation” of Indian banking system, says Bank Employees’ Federation of India (BEFI) president A.K. Ramesh Babu.
The bank employees and officers had observed “Protest Day” on August 8, the opening day of the monsoon session of Parliament. The response showed the determination of the workforce, Ramesh Babu said adding that the Bank Employees’ Federation of India is prepared for flash strike the day the bill is passed.
