Allahabad HC plea in SC with same bench
The petition of Allahabad high court administration seeking expunging of certain âharsh commentsâ about its judges made by a division bench of the apex court would be considered by the same judges on Friday.
The HC administration had taken serious view of the âsomething is rottenâ remarks against it and its judges and described them in its petition as âunwarrantedâ in the fact and circumstances of the case.
The application, which had been listed before the bench of Justices Markandey Katju and Gyan Sudha Misra â said âthe remarks are unfortunate and uncalled for and have brought down the image of the Allahabad HC judges in the eyes of the general public. The observations had made it difficult for the judges to function.â
Justices Katju and Misra had made the remarks in a Wakf Board case judgement disapproving the practice of âuncle judges syndromeâ allowed in the HC.
The high court administration, in an application moved through its Registrar General, sought the expunging of all âadverseâ remarks against the HC and its judges, saying they were made âout of contextâ and were unrelated to the Wakf Board case.

âTourism needs single-window clearance hubâ
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI
Dec. 9: Union minister of state for tourism Sultan Ahmed on Thursday told Rajya Sabha that the absence of a single window clearance system affects tourism in the country and the state governments as well as the Union Territory administrations are advised from time-to-time to introduce enabling legislation.
In reply to a question on whether the absence of such a system, the tourism industry suffers from frustrating delays due to unclear lengthy procedures, the minister replied in the affirmative.
Mr Ahmed told the Rajya Sabha that new hotel projects have to obtain multiple clearances from various Central/ state government/ UT administration authorities. âWith a view to facilitate timely clearance of such projects, the ministry of tourism has been requesting other ministries and the state governments/ UT administrations from time-to-time to introduce a single window system for clearance of hotel projects,â the minister said in his reply. Back in April, Union tourism minister Kumari Selja had said that a single window clearance system would be launched that would minimise the hassles in getting the requisite permissions for projects.
