Amar defends Congress on corruption
Lok Manch leader Amar Singh on Friday defended the Congress when he said that it was unjust to blame political parties for the issue of corruption since only a handful of people were responsible for the malaise.
Mr Singh, while addressing a Satta Parivartan Rally in Mohanlalganj on the outskirts of Lucknow, said, “It is only a handful of people who are involved in corruption and you cannot blame the entire political system for it.”
He said that people were becoming increasingly aware of the issue of corruption and efforts should be made to address the problem unitedly.
Talking about his recent Purvanchal Yatra, Mr Singh said that statehood for eastern UP was the only solution for backwardness and regretted that no political party had come forward to support his initiative.
He said that he was open for an alliance with any party except Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party for the next Assembly elections.
Mr Singh lashed out against UP chief minister Mayawati and accused her of misusing funds meant for development work in constructing parks and statues.
“Farmers are committing suicide due to penury in Bundelkhand region. Had this money been utilised properly, the deaths could have been prevented,” he said.
