Amar shifted to aiims, decision on bail reserved
Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh has been shifted to AIIMS from his cell in Tihar jail on Monday evening. The Tihar jail authorities confirmed that they have called a team of doctors to examine the health conditions of Mr Singh and the team referred him to AIIMS.
“Mr Singh had no medical complications in the jail. The team of doctors referred him as per precautionary measures. We have provided the ambulance for him to the AIIMS,” confirmed a Tihar Jail official.
The court on Monday reserved the judgment on his interim bail plea in connection with the alleged role of the former Samajwadi Party leader in cash-for-vote scam.
Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal reserved her order after hearing senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, who argued the case of 55-year-old Singh.
Mr Jethmalani said, “Jail is not a place where one goes to cure his illness. He is sick and infirm. Things are getting worse. In releasing him, you will be releasing a person who has nothing to do with the case. Why should the court take the risk with a man’s life. The excuse that he is a sick man is enough for the bail.”
