Amar Singh claims CD doctored
Claiming that he is neither a “saint” nor a “villain”, expelled Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh on Thursday stated that the “CDs” containing his conversations with politicians, businessmen and actresses are “doctored” and are the work of “cut, paste and splicing”.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday had vacated the stay on publication and broadcasting of contents of phone tapping of Mr Singh after which the former SP leader’s conversation with actress Bipasha Basu and industrialists appeared in a section of media.
Mr Singh refused to comment on his alleged conversation with Bipasha Basu while stating the issue deals with his personal life and if at all he needs to answer anyone it would be his wife. However, Mr Singh conceded that the voice is of his only in the CDs of his tapped conversations. “Since my phone was being tapped for a year, the people behind it had a bank of his voice samples which were concocted and doctored to create the CDs. My voice is there in the CDs but it has been cut and pasted and spliced,” stated Mr Singh during an hour-long press briefing at his residence.
He, however, claimed that he had not sought a stay on the publication and broadcasting of the tapped conversations but the then Chief Justice of India gave a gag order.
