Amarinder: SAD merger act of Badal desperation
Reacting to the merger of Lok Bhalhi Party into SAD former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh has described it as desperation on the part of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. Terming Balwant Singh Ramoowalia and his party Lok Bhalai Party as a non-entity in Punjab politics PCCC president compared SAD to a sinking ship.
Mr Amrinder Singh, who is on a month-long statewide Punjab Bachao Yarta from Thursday said that Mr Parkash Singh Badal is like a drowning man who is desperate to latch on anything and is trying to glorify the entry of Mr Ramoowalia who is a spent force in state politics.
Mr Amarinder Singh said that deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal is making frivolous claims that with Mr Ramoowalia joining the Shiromani Akali Dal, the party will rule Punjab for another 50 years. He said, Mr Badal was not even sure which seat he will be contesting from, as he was finding it difficult to identify a safe seat for himself and his son was claiming to rule for another 50 years.
It is natural for such a man who has spent 70 years in politics and remained chief minister four times and is still not able to identify a safe seat for himself in these elections, to walk an extra mile to welcome a man like Mr Ramoowalia, who is already a spent force in today’s politics, into his party,” the PCC president observed, while remarking, “his value is same like that of an outdated cheque of a bank already gone bust”.
