American ‘raped’ in Hyderabad

In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old American woman was repeatedly raped by an unidentified youth at her residence in the posh locality of Banjara Hills in the early hours of Wednesday.

The terrified woman, a native of New York, offered 600 euros to the youth to spare her, but he refused and instead threatened her with a pistol.
Then he blindfolded her using a towel and raped her three times. She is currently undergoing treatment at Niloufer Hospital.
The Banjara Hills police said the woman came to India on October 2007 and had been working with an international NGO located at Begumpet.
Since her arrival in the city she had been residing on the first floor of an independent house at Road No 11, Banjara Hills, belonging to a retired Osmania University professor.
“We are not sure how the intruder gained access into the house,” said the Banjara Hills police inspector M. Sudarshan.
However, another cop said that the rapist entered the house from a rear window and threatened the woman by saying, “I will shoot you if you move”.
