Amethi visit cancelled due to political pressure: Ravi Shankar
Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Tuesday cancelled his proposed visit to Amethi, the Lok Sabha constituency of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, as part of his ongoing anti-corruption yatra in Uttar Pradesh alleging the Ashram, which had invited him was pressurised not to call him.
"I was invited by Sri Hari Ashram to visit Amethi during my yatra but I had to change it (the plan) because my people there were facing undue pressure from political parties and they requested me not to come," he said.
Laster, talking to reporters in neighbouring Sonebhadra district, the Art of Living founder refused to divulge the name of the political party which had exerted pressure on those who had invited him to Amethi.
"I do not want to do anything that might pose problems for my people," the spiritual guru said.
He, however, said he he would soon chalk out a programme at personal level to visit Amethi in future.
Advocating a strong Lokpal Bill, he said his yatra was not to oppose or support any political party.
