Amit Shah remanded to 2 days in CBI custody
Former Gujarat minister of state for home Amit Shah has been remanded to two days in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody in connection with the alleged fake encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh after the Gujarat high court on Friday accepted the CBI plea for custody.
Mr Shah’s advocate, Mr Mahesh Jethmalani, said the court rejected their demand to video-record Mr Shah’s period in CBI custody.
“The court has given two days police custody. We made a request for video-recording in custody. They said it would take too much time and there was no provision in the law for this,” Mr Jethmalani said. However, Mr Shah’s lawyer can remain present at a visible distance, but not at audible distance, during Mr Shah’s interrogation in CBI custody.
