Amit Shah surfaces, says allegations fabricated

Missing former Gujarat minister, Mr Amit Shah, accused in the 2005 staged killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, surfaced dramatically at a press conference by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Sunday and claimed the allegations against him were "fabricated and politically motivated".

Mr Shah, who had been missing since on Thursday, walked in at a press conference where the BJP state unit chief, Mr R.C. Faldu, was addressing the press. Mr
Shah, who has been charge-sheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), said he would go to the CBI office after the conference.

"I am going straight to the CBI office from here... I haven't got the chargesheet copy, but from the contents which are coming in the media... (I want to say that) the accusations against me are fabricated, politically motivated and framed on the behest of the Congress government," Mr Shah told reporters.

He demanded that his submission before the CBI should be "videographed". "When this matter comes before court, I am sure that none of the claims against me will stand," Shah said, adding that he had full faith in the justice system.

Mr Shah submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
