Andhra Pradesh: No word on `scam' mantris
Hyderabad: The Congress leadership has not taken a final decision on the ministers with a “financial“ blot on their records.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy met AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Friday, briefing her about the state's political situation, “the tainted ministers“ issue and the Cabinet reshuffle. Later in the evening, Union minister and state Congress affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad met Mrs Gandhi and discussed with her the issue of the tainted ministers.
On Thursday, Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana and Mr Azad discussed until late into the night issues such as the PCC executive committee, nominated posts
and the tainted ministers issue. In a meeting with PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana and Congress affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday in Delhi, Chief Minister N. Kiran
Kumar Reddy said that until the court took a final decision, the ministers of questionable conduct ought not to be dropped from Cabinet.
In fact, he pointed out, the ministers in the YSR government had not committed any mistake in issuing the GOs. The PCC chief, however, opined that if the tainted ministers were
dropped the government would be able to acquire a clean image. Sources said that they finalised the PCC executive committee with nine vice-presidents and five general secretaries.
The Congress allowed the CM to make appointments to nominated posts, particularly SC, ST, BC and mahila commission chairpersons.
