Anna overestimating bill: diggy
Continuing with his tirade against Anna Hazare and his team members who have been pitching for a strong Lokpal Bill, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday said that the activist was “over estimating” the anti-graft
measure, as only one law would “not be sufficient” in tackling corruption.
Talking to reporters at AICC headquarters here, Mr Singh said, “I think he is over estimating the Jan Lokpal Bill. Corruption can only be removed by a comprehensive strategy of the government, the bureaucracy and the judiciary so that it can be tackled at every level. Just passing a bill will not help. Corruption will not be removed only by Lokpal.”
Reminding the Gandhian social activist that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has promised to the nation a strong Lokpal long before he took up the issue, Mr Singh said, “Congress had promised Lokpal in its election campaign long before Mr Hazare came into picture. Long before Mr Hazare, Sonia Gandhi had in the AICC session here, promised strong Lokpal. National Advisory Council had asked Aruna Roy and Harsh Mander to draft the bill.”
