Suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal may not be immediately re-instated.
The state government has now asked the principal home secretary R.M. Srivastava to conduct an inquiry into all aspects of the Durga Nagpal case.
“I have been verbally asked to conduct an inquiry into the case, though I am still awaiting formal orders in this regard,” Mr Srivastava told reporters.
He said that once formal orders are issued, he would go to Greater Noida and see all aspects of the case.
The government has decided to appoint an inquiry officer in the case after the reply filed by Ms Nagpal “did not match government records,” particularly pertaining to the ownership of the land’ on which the mosque wall, which was demolished on her orders, had existed in Kadalpur village on July 27.
According to the reply submitted by Durga Shakti Nagpal, the land belonged to ‘gram sabha’, but government records say otherwise.

Highly placed sources said on Thursday that the state government had found certain discrepancies in her reply to the charge sheet given to her, regarding the demolition of the mosque wall which she had allegedly ordered in Kadalpur village in Greater Noida on July 27. She was suspended the same night.
